PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers are still looking to get everybody healthy as they move forward in the 2024-25 season. They are still within striking distance of the final play-in spot in the East, but will only get there with health and consistency.
The latest injury is to rookie Justin Edwards. The Philadelphia native did a good job of proving himself and was able to earn a standard deal after starting the season going undrafted and on a two-way deal.
Edwards sprained his left ankle in the first practice post the All-Star break and missed the loss to the Boston Celtics and will miss the matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. As the Sixers move forward, coach Nick Nurse is hoping he will be able to return on Monday.
“I believe so,” Nurse said. “He’s moving, shooting on the court today. So hopeful that he’ll be ready to go for the next game.”
The Sixers will continue to push ahead and hope Edwards will be able to return on Monday when they play host to the Chicago Bulls. That matchup will have play-in implications as Philadelphia continues to chase the Bulls for the final spot.
