Castle employee accused of giving kids alcohol, police say

CHANDLER, Ind. (WFIE) – A Chandler man is facing charges after police say he gave liquor to three teenagers.

According to the arrest affidavit for 52-year-old Robert P. Holben, the crime happened February 1.

Police say a teenage boy was taken to the hospital with severe alcohol intoxication.

They say days later, a family member told officers she learned the person who provided the alcohol was Holben, a Castle High School employee.

Warrick County Schools Superintendent Dr. Abbie Redmon confirms Holben is a Program Assistant.

She says he’s been on administrative leave since last week, and a recommendation for his termination will be presented at the next school board meeting on Monday.

Chandler Police say an investigation was started regarding videos of sex acts that also happened February 1.

They say Warrick County Deputies and the Department of Child Services have taken over that investigation, while they investigate the alcohol.

The affidavit does not clarify who is involved in the videos, and Holben’s charges are only in connection to the alcohol.

He’s charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

His affidavit shows there is video surveillance evidence of Holben buying alcohol that day at the liquor store and his truck being at the house where the teens drank.

Police say Holben told them he dropped the teens off at the house, and they must have swiped the alcohol from his truck.

They say he told officers he didn’t notice until he got home, but he didn’t do anything to get it back.

Police say his cell phone was taken for evidence.
