RED BLUFF, Calif. — The nonprofit organization “One Seed at a Time” has launched its third community stall in Tehama County, aiming to address local food insecurity. The latest stall is situated at the Poor and the Homeless (PATH) Shelter in Red Bluff, following the recent installation of a garden there.
The nonprofit’s director, Priscilla Burke, emphasized the importance of reconnecting the community with the origins of their food.
“Even we struggle from time to time in our household, and I know that there are plenty more out there that are struggling with, you know, wanting to give their kids more nutritious foods,” said Burke.
“One Seed at a Time” envisions the stalls as multifunctional spaces where people can donate non-perishable food items, post fliers for lost pets, or anonymously request items they need, fostering community unity.
The organization plans to expand beyond Tehama County, with a goal of establishing 50 community stalls across the Northstate by the end of the year.
