Kids spend February break breaking a sweat at the YMCA

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – At least a hundred students are spending their February Break breaking a sweat.

The Watertown Fairgrounds YMCA is in the midst of its February Break camps.

Some kids spent the morning at Battle Camp playing basketball, floor hockey, and battling it out with Nerf Blasters.

Others tested their agility at Avalanche Camp, a combination of gymnastics, and ninja obstacle courses.

Facility Director Paul Passino says it’s been a great turnout this break, and the YMCA is looking for even more campers for Spring Break.

“With the weather like this being cold out and snow, it’s great to be able to come indoors, have a facility in our community to be able to offer these programs to kids,” said Passino.

“Today, we first did sharks and minnows, a game of ‘Red Light, Green Light,” said camper Casey Hendrix.

“It’s really fun and they should come try it. Lots of kids come here and we get to play fun stuff,” said camper Blake Resch.

The camps run through Friday.
