BREAKING: Armed robbery at Eastside Food Store under investigation by Alachua County deputies

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Deputies with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) said around noon Tuesday they were still on the scene responding to an armed robbery at a Hawthorne convenience store.

They said it happened around 11:49 a.m. at the Eastside Food Store located at 3423 Southeast Hawthorne Road.

The business reported two black males, wearing all black and black ski masks entering the store, one suspect armed with a handgun, and demanded cash.

Deputies said both suspects fled on foot, south of the store.

Residents in the area are asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious people to the ASO 24-hour communications center at 352-955-1818 (option 5).

Officials said the scene is very active with K9 Deputies on an active track and Alachua County Fire Rescue drone units assisting with aerial support.
