It’s been a rough couple of months for Ubisoft with another Assassin’s Creed Shadows delay, high-profile flops, and financial issues chasing each other, but throughout it all one game in particular held the developer’s banner up high: Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. The tactical hero shooter has been Ubisoft’s anchor in these tough times and the studio wants to ensure that this strong performance continues for years to come.
How? That’s what Ubisoft is set to reveal on March 13, 2025, during a special showcase for the project it has dubbed Siege X. It won’t be a full-blown sequel to the first-person shooter, but “the biggest transformation in the game’s history” with “new ways to play, deepened tactical gameplay, refined game feel and major upgrades all around,” the studio teased.

A short teaser trailer available on YouTube gave fans a glimpse of the next chapter and many of the game’s dedicated followers have already identified some potential changes made with Siege X.
On a basic level, the visuals seem to be getting an update, which is a nice bonus, since Siege is nearly a decade old by now and technology hasn’t been stagnant in the meantime, especially for aspects such as lighting.
In regards to gameplay, the movement system appears to be more free than in the current game — the teaser contains one section that shows two characters wallrunning with a bit of technical assistance. Another slice of the trailer appears to be showing a chain of explosions going off, indicating that players might be able to set up more complex traps or breaches than currently.
Prominently, the teaser trailer features a helicopter hovering above the ground, which may mean that helicopter-based spawns are back on the menu.
The Siege X showcase is going to be held on March 13, 2025, at 1pm EDT on the Rainbow Six Twitch channel.
