5th annual United Way of Allen County food drive to begin Monday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The 5th annual United Way of Allen County food drive will begin on Monday.

From February 17 to March 4, the organization is encouraging community members to donate non-perishable food items at four different Salsa Grille locations throughout the city of Fort Wayne.

Three local organizations, Miss Virginia’s Food Pantry, Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana, and Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County, will benefit from the food drive.

“After the holidays, food banks are often depleted and in need of replenishment,” said Brandi Buck, Executive Director of United Way of Allen County. “Our community food drive is intended to help meet that need.”

In addition to the food drive, over 20 community organizations will be holding internal food drive collection.

The organization’s goal is to surpass last year’s total of nearly 7,000 pounds of food.

Salsa Grille’s four participating locations are at 7755 Coldwater Road, 5709 YMCA Park Drive West, 5735 Falls Drive, and 2031 Broadway.

The organization also is accepting monetary donations at https://www.unitedwayallencounty.org/food-drive or by texting FOOD25 to 41444.
