Marshall University participating in Sun Belt Conference food drive

Marshall University is participating in the second annual Sun Belt Conference Food Fight, an effort among SBC schools to address food scarcity.

Food collected contributes to a point system with more high-demand and nutritious items being worth more points. Monetary donations are also accepted, with each dollar adding two points to the school’s tally.

Donations can be made though an Amazon link or by making a drop off in Huntington. Donation boxes can be found on campus and within student government offices at the Memorial Student Center.

“Last year our food pantry underwent an expansion project and its going to be three times the size or more than it was before. I really think that is a testament to the need,” student body president Brea Belville told Eyewitness News.

All donations go to the campus food pantry and will be collected through the end of February.

Last year Marshall won the competition with more than 60,000 points.
