EASLEY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – As technology evolves, so do the apps your kids are accessing. The Easley Police Department is issuing a warning parents to research the apps their kids are using.
According to the department, many apps seem innocent but can expose children to online dangers, from inappropriate content to potential predators.

Here’s what to look for:
- Secretive messaging apps: Kids may hide conversations or post anonymously.
- Social networks with no privacy settings: Kids may unknowingly share personal info.
- Gaming platforms with chat features: In-game chats can lead to exposure to harmful content.
- Apps that disappear content: Some apps let users send messages or pictures that disappear, making it harder to monitor.
What you can do:
- Talk openly with your child about their digital life.
- Set clear rules on app usage and online behavior.
- Monitor app downloads and usage regularly.
- Use parental controls and safety features.
