KOTA Cares: Kids Deserve Dads

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – According to the fatherhood project, children with actively involved fathers are 75% less likely to have a teen pregnancy, 80% less likely to spend time in jail and 50% more likely to graduate high school.

On this week’s KOTA Cares, we highlight a non-profit that is empowering men in KOTA Territory to give fully of themselves to their children, families and society.

Kids Deserve Dads is a Rapid City-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering fathers to become the best versions of themselves to build strong relationships with their children.

Whether you have your kids every day or you have your kids only on weekends, this organization offers resources, support and even fun activities.

One thing the organization is working on is providing a new and unique way to do supervised visits.

They are working with the United Methodist Church to allow these visits to happen in rooms with toys and space to play and bond.

“A lot of parents that are in conflict around their kids, dads especially get to have only supervised visits, we work with moms and dads on supervised visits, we do a lot of activities around helping support them and showing up and being actively involved and feel more natural as opposed to being in a small confined observation room,” Zac Martin, founder of Kids Deserve Dads, said.

Kids Deserve Dads is fully funded by donations.
