Community’s Newest Non-Profit Group Places Food Pantry at SC Detention Center

Working in partnership with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, and with assistance from local company Osborne Wood Products, Inc., Simple Decency – a non-profit volunteer group committed to helping families in need – have provided a resource for local citizens suffering from hunger and food insecurity – including families of inmates at the Stephens County Detention Center.

Last week, representatives from Simple Decency and the Sheriff’s Office held a small ceremony to mark the installation of a Food Pantry in the lobby of the Detention Center – located on Scenic Drive in Toccoa. The black wood cabinet that will serve as the pantry was donated by Osborne Wood Products, and was filled to overflowing with canned goods and non-perishable food items.

Stephens County Sheriff Rusty Fulbright told WNEG News how the project came about.
