South Bend Mayor discusses debt, property tax revenues in annual finance address

South Bend is about $300 million in debt, but has a cash balance of over $500 million.

Those are a couple snapshot highlights from the Mayor’s annual finance address to the South Bend Council.

He touched on property tax revenues, which he said increased from 2023-2024.

Mayor James Mueller (D) also focused part of Monday night’s address on property tax income, which increased last year from the previous year.

The concern is the unknown impact of property tax cuts now under consideration in the Indiana Senate.
