Lehigh Hosts Navy For Swishes and Swifties Night

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women’s basketball welcomes Navy on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Stabler Arena in the Mountain Hawks Swifties and Swishes night. The first 250 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative poster and the first 50 kids will receive a friendship bracelet.

The Mountain Hawks are 19-4 (10-1 PL) and the Midshipmen are 15-7 (7-4 PL). Lehigh is riding an eight-game winning streak.  If the Mountain Hawks win on Wednesday, it would match their longest winning streak since the 2009-2010 season and the first time Lehigh reached the 20-win mark since the 2018-19 season. The Mountain Hawks have reached 20 wins seven times in program history. 

Lehigh downed American 67-52 on Feb. 8 to pick up its eighth straight win. Senior guard Ella Stemmer tallied a team-high of 15 points. Stemmer is 10 points away from eclipsing the 1,000 career-point mark and would become the 24th player in program history to achieve the honor.

The Ann Arbor, Mich., native is also three three-pointers away from reaching 200 career three-pointers. She currently sits fourth all-time in program history with 197 three-pointers and needs two more to tie Quinci Mann ’18 for the third-most three-pointers in program history. 

Meghan O’Brien (14 points) and fifth-year senior wing Maddie Albrecht (12 points) also reached double figures in Lehigh’s win over American. Albrecht is averaging a team-high 15.8 points per game, which also ranks third in the league. Albrecht has reached double figures in a team-leading six straight games and 20 times this season. 

Navy is coming off of a 61-60 loss to Lafayette. Zanai Barnett-Gay paced the Midshipmen with 29 points. Barnett-Gay is the lone player for Navy averaging double figures. putting up a team-high 19.0 points per game. 

Wednesday’s game will mark the second meeting of the season between the two teams. Tied at 46 at the half, Lehigh outscored Navy 40-21 in the second half to propel the Mountain Hawks to a 87-66 win over the Midshipmen on Jan. 29. 

Albrecht had a career-high game in the win over Navy, scoring 31 points after going 11-of-15 from the field and 6-of-7 from long range. Stemmer (15 points) and junior forward Lily Fandre (10 points) also finished in double figures. 

Lehigh is 38-34 all-time against Navy. If the Mountain Hawks win on Wednesday, they would capture the season series for the first time since the 2022-23 season. 

Next up, Lehigh will travel to Worcester, Mass. to face Holy Cross on Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. Saturday’s game will air on ESPN+.
