BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — FeedMore WNY is picking up the pieces Monday after an alleged break-in over the weekend.
The food bank says their food production at their James E. Casey Dr. location will be slowed down in the coming weeks after a suspect allegedly broke into multiple FeedMore vehicles and the farming facility.
Security footage around 1 a.m. Saturday shows the suspect stealing multiple laptops, LED lights, cameras and even a TV, according to FeedMore. Both of their mobile farm market trucks and two hydroponic container farms were damaged. A brick was found at the scene.
FeedMore says they’re working to assess the cost of the damages and stolen property but it will impact their ability to support the community.
“For every thousand dollars, FeedMore WNY can provide nearly 300 meals through all of our programs and services, and we know that this is going to be thousands and thousands of dollars worth of damage,” said Public Relations Manager Catherine Shick.
This incident comes just less than a week after FeedMore installed the first steel beams on their new centralized headquarters in Hamburg. It’s set to open in 2026.
A police report has been filed and the FeedMore team is assisting the Buffalo Police Department with the investigation.
