First Presbyterian Church holds Souper Bowl to end food insecurity

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) – The First Presbyterian Church held their annual Souper Bowl event to help raise money to end food insecurity.

The church handed out a variety of homemade soup to members of the community. They had a donation bin for anyone who wanted to make a monetary donation. All of the money raised will go to GoPacks. They are a nonprofit organization that helps children get access to food and helps families connect with local resources.

One of the members of the church’s youth group said the church has held the event for as long as she can remember. The youth group helped hand out the soup during the event. The soup was made by members of the First Presbyterian Church.

Annalyn Warner, a member of the church’s youth group, said it’s important to help nonprofit organizations provide a reliable source of food for the community.

They hold the event every year on Super Bowl Sunday. They help a local nonprofit each year to raise money to end food insecurity.
