As if the ticket prices weren’t steep enough — even though they were falling approaching kickoff — fans are getting gouged for food and drink at Super Bowl LIX at the Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday.
A beer is $17, but that’s OK, it’s not as if Philadelphia Eagles fans are drinkers. (That’s sarcasm, folks.) And if Eagles or Chiefs fans want to pair that brew with a hot dog, it’s $18.99.
A premium cocktail such as a Bayou Strawberry Daiquiri or a Frozen Irish Coffee will cost fans $18.99, according to The Mirror.
Wings and hotdogs — priced to move — are only $4, while a slice of pizza costs $13, not that New Orleans is known for its pizza.
And for those with more expensive and refined tastes: a Caprese Crab Salad costs a staggering $100, a basket of Garden Fresh Crudites runs $80, and a Louisiana Creole dish of white rice cooked with small pieces of pork, beef or chicken is priced at $75.
President Donald Trump, a well-chronicled fan of fast food, is en route to New Orleans. Trump might not be a fan of expensive salads, but he’s rooting for the Chiefs.
“I’m a big fan of both teams. They’re sort of different,” Trump said in a pregame interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier. “In Philadelphia, (they) have one of the greatest running backs, Saquon (Barkley). You know, Saquon had an uncle. Was a great fighter, great fighter — Iran Barkley has name was. You have a great running back. You really have a great quarterback. The other team, the quarterback really knows how to win. He is a great, great quarterback.”
Baier responded, “So, game prediction?”
“I hate to do it,” Trump said. “I’ll just say that I’ve watched this great quarterback, who has, by the way, a phenomenal wife, OK? She’s a Trump fan. She’s a MAGA fan, so I happen to love her, OK? But she’s a great person. I watched her being interviewed. I said, ‘Boy, that’s pretty good,’ but she’s great and he’s great.
“I guess you have to say that when a quarterback wins as much as this one. I have to go with Kansas City, I have to go with Kansas City. At the same time. Philadelphia has a fantastic … it’s gonna be just a great game.”
