When Panera Bread launches a new menu item, it’s my professional duty as a food editor to taste it. (Seriously—did you have a chance to try the Ciabatta Dippers?) But I was personally and genuinely psyched to sample the Asiago Bagel Stacks. When I was a kid, the Asiago bagel was my go-to (my sister was of the Cinnamon Crunch bagel camp, also a valid choice).
I’d only ever ordered it with cream cheese, but this new menu series uses the bagel in place of bread for three different sandwiches that are stacked high with meat, cheese, greens and spreads. Read on for my honest review and ranking of them all, so you know which to order before they’re gone. (They’ll be around through early April, BTW.)
