KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Big brothers, big sisters and community members alike gathered to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Michigan on Saturday.
The organization held their annual “Bowl for Kids’ Sake” fundraiser at Revel and Roll most of the day.
Teams of five or six pledge to raise a minimum of $75 each to participate, or $375 per five person team, or $450 per six person team. Participants could bowl complimentary of the money they raised.
“It’s super cool seeing people dress up and just bring all the spirit, whether it’s individuals who get together as a friends or a family or organizations, companies who are able to support their employees and kind of give them this opportunity while donating to our organization,” said Tyler Walker, outreach and engagement specialist with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Other features of the event included a 50/50 raffle, wacky awards, decorative bowling pins, games, and more.
The organization holds two of these events in Kalamazoo, and one in Battle Creek. It matches adults with at-risk youth in the community, who meet a few times a month.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Michigan is always looking for more mentors, and you can sign up on their website here.
Among the participants were News Channel 3’s Andy Dominianni.
