King shows no sign of slowing down at Italian-themed food celebration

In the heart of Highgrove was a little Italy.

A British royal residence hosting an Italian-themed dinner, with matching guestlist and menus.

This Anglo-Italian event, organised by Hollywood star Stanley Tucci, was a celebration of slow food and slow fashion.

Bringing together big names and famous faces, including Dame Helen Mirren and the Beckhams.

But if slow was the theme, as he moved and mingled around the room, there was no sign the King himself was slowing down.

He is still receiving regular cancer treatment but is also keen to keep his calendar as busy as possible.

This engagement comes weeks before his state visit to Italy in April – a busy trip involving engagements in both Rome and the city of Ravenna.

The King and Queen are due to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican and celebrate the 2025 Jubilee Year, a special year for the Catholic Church.

His speech to the gathered guests showed how much the trip means to him, as he told them that “to say that we are looking forward to it would be to engage in just a little British understatement”.

A year on from the dual royal cancer diagnoses, this week has felt like the family back to business.

With high-profile engagements from the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as Princess Anne, who met the emergency staff who treated her after she was knocked unconscious by a horse.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have been even further afield with their visit to Nepal.

They’ve all been keeping the royal show on the road. But the King himself is the driving force. Filling his time and diary is his remedy for recovery.
