2025 School Food Drive for BRAF Expands to Valley

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is inviting schools and organizations in the area to participate in the annual School Food Drive March 3-through-21. But Food Bank drive director Livia Marrs says this year’s it’s different after starting with Charlottesville and Albemarle schools, it’s expanding to the Valley.

Since 2011, Charlottesville area schools have been increasingly participating in this annual event and last year 20 schools collected enough food to provide more than 5000 meals. This year organizations in Albemarle, Augusta, Buckingham, Culpeper, Greene, Fluvanna, Madison, Orange, and Rockingham counties, along with the cities of Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Waynesboro, and Staunton, are invited to participate in the annual School Food Drive.

Also new this year is donors can give financially through the individual school as well as bring nonperishable items to the school. This year’s student leaders are Lily Stendig from Albemarle High School and Sofia Smith from Tandem Friends School. Food will be collected at designated areas within participating schools during the drive and donated to the Food Bank once it concludes.

Registration deadline is February 21. See all the information in the release below.
