K.I. SAWYER, Mich. (WLUC) – Kids and families in K.I. Sawyer learned about mental health and wellness in a unique way Thursday night.
Family wellness night included 12 stations for kids and their families to explore. Stations included things like yoga, a dance party, mindfulness and making faces out of healthy snacks.
Tiffany Green, Gilbert Elementary School counselor, says when good habits start early, kids are more likely to carry it with them for the rest of their lives.
“Getting them exposure to what’s out there and some activities and some fun things is a start,” Green said. “And getting their families involved so that maybe their families also are interested in certain things and want to try new things. It’s just an opportunity to share what wellness means to us.”
Green says the Marquette County Cares Coalition helped make the night a reality and they hope to continue these events for more years to come.
