How to make sure you don’t commit a Super Bowl party food foul

The big game is on this Sunday and you don’t want to commit a party food foul! Jada Ruff from Nebraska Extension sat down with NTV news to talk food safety.

Jada Ruff says, “set out food for the one half of the game and another half for the other half of the game.” Jada reminding us to do it that way to avoid having our food going into the temperature danger zone. The danger zone for food being 40 degrees Fahrenheit to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Jada also saying, “Food sitting out for more than two hours will need to be discarded.”

Ruff giving four simple things to remember for safe food serving:

  • Clean- remember to clean your utensils, serving dishes, and your hands.
  • Separate- remember to separate to avoid cross contamination
  • Chill- remember that food is not to be out for more than two hours.
  • Cook- remember to cook foods to the correct temperature using a food thermometer
