JAMESTOWN, Ind. (WISH) — Three people died, including two children and an adult, in an accident on Interstate 74 westbound early Friday morning.

A detective with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the crash to News 8.

The incident happened sometime around 6:30 a.m. A Kia Soul driving eastbound on I-74 rear-ended a semi, then crossed into the median into the westbound lanes. There, they drove head-on into a pickup truck.

Two kids and the driver of the Kia died at the scene. Both people in the pickup truck and another child in the Kia were taken to a hospital with injuries.

Police later identified the driver of the Kia as Ashley Morgan, 27, of Iowa. Police did not say if Morgan and the three juveniles were related.

The driver and passenger of the pickup truck were also identified as Bo Redrowicz, 33, and Caleb Morey.

The semi driver, 50-year-old Steven Pearson of Illinois, was taken to a hospital for an evaluation.

The children involved in the accident have not been named.

According to INDOT, all lanes of westbound traffic were closed for several miles while crews investigated. As of 10:15 a.m., all lanes of I-74 were reopened.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area. Highway traffic was being diverted off onto IN-75.

A public information officer would release more information at a media presser. News 8 has a crew heading to the scene.
