Las Cruces police investigate claims of fentanyl-laced drink from fast-food restaurant

Detectives with the Las Cruces Police Department are investigating claims that a fentanyl-laced drink from a local fast-food restaurant sent a man to the hospital and are asking the public not to speculate on social media.

According to the Las Cruces Police Department, at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report that a local 20-year-old man became sick after drinking a drink allegedly delivered from a fast food restaurant.

Police did not say which restaurant.

LCPD said the man was able to walk on his own when he was taken to a local hospital and described his injuries as “not life-threatening.”

Detectives said they are looking into the claims and will follow all leads to get to the bottom of the allegations.

LCPD said it has seen similar claims on social media and is asking people to not speculate on the incident as they say that unconfirmed reports could spread unnecessary fear and interfere with the investigation.

Anyone with information on this incident or similar incidents is being asked to contact LCPD at 575-526-0795.
